BRIEF BACKGROUND

Geography, History and Economy

 

The Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality is a Category B municipality situated within the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District in the North West Province. It borders on the Kgalagadi District of the Republic of Botswana to the north, Greater Taung to the south, the Northern Cape Province to the south-west, Naledi to the south-east, and Ratlou to the east. It was created during the local government elections of 18 May 2011 by merging the Kagisano and Molopo Municipalities.
